LavenderLiberal.com Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

LavenderLiberal.com is a private Web site, owned and operated by a private individual. By using any part of this Web site, you agree to the following:

This site is provided for entertainment purposes only. We don't claim everything will be accurate all the time. You won't hold us (that's the royal "us") accountable if you find something you don't agree with, or don't like, or something that doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

You agree not to use this Web site for any illegal or otherwise nefarious purpose. You agree not to spam, hack, abuse or attempt to disrupt operation of the LavenderLiberal.com Web site, or otherwise harrass or threaten the proprietor or any other user of this Web site. You agree not to send the proprietor or any other user of this Web site hate mail, spam, or other abusive forms of communication, in any form whatsoever, electronic or otherwise. You agree not to defame, liberal, or slander this Web site, or the proprietor of this Web site, or any other user of this Web site. You agree not to cause damage to this Web site, or to the proprietor of this Web site, or to any other user of this Web site in any way we haven't already thought of and specified here.

You are welcome to browse every last pixel of publicly-accessible information on this site, but you are not allowed to copy any of it, including but not limited to text, images, and design elements. You may quote brief excerpts of text NOT posted in the Lavender Liberal message forums on your own Web site or in other publications in accordance with U.S. Code: Title 17: Section 107 for nonprofit educational purposes, but if you do, you agree to attribute LavenderLiberal.com with a live link back to http://www.LavenderLiberal.com.

There are links to many external sites throughout LavenderLiberal.com. We take no responsibility whatsoever for the content of the sites these links lead to. We link to sites that we know at the time are what they say they are, but we aren't responsible for changes other people may make.

Just remember that when you go to any site outside of LavenderLiberal.com, you're operating under that party's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (which you should always read), and not under ours any longer.

We also won't be held responsible for anything that happens on your computer while using this site. There is no malicious code (and there are no pop-ups), but it's entirely possible your computer may barf because it doesn't like some of our Javascript. (The solution is to figure out what's wrong with your computer and/or software.) If you get a lot of warnings from your antivirus software, you probably have your security settings set too high, and not because we're sending you anything evil - we're not.

Information Gathered

This site does not collect any personally-identifiable information, unless you choose to give it to us.

You don't have to register, or tell us who you are, in order to access the publicly-accessible areas of this site. If you want to use our message forums, you must register with a valid email address, and provide your full, real name to the forum administrator. You will find complete requirements, reasons, and rules in the LLF FAQ. We will not sell, give away, trade, or share with any third party anything you tell us about yourself, with two exceptions: 1) If we get a court order demanding your info, we have to turn it over (or we'll end up in jail with you); 2) If you try to spam us, hack us, or otherwise abuse or threaten us, we will turn over every speck of info we can get our hands on to your ISP, and/or the appropriate law enforcement agency/ies.

If you're a nice, normal Web surfer who just wants to enjoy the site, then the scary stuff above doesn't apply to you.

What We Do With Data Generated from Traffic

Each time a visitor comes to LavenderLiberal.com, we collect some basic information: the domain the visitor is coming from, the visitor's IP address, and (when we can) the page the visitor came from to get to our site, and the type of browser the visitor is using.

We generate an aggregate picture of general traffic to help us understand how visitors use this site, and to help us make the site better in the future.

We can't tell who you are from any of this information (which is standard stuff collected by virtually every site on the Web).

Or, as Reasonable Man's oft-cited TOS states:
This is a standard legal boilerplate, but we want to make sure that you know we aren't jerks. We're fair, but we don't want to be sued by some nitwit who thinks that they are entitled to compensation because they sent us a rant against Strawberry Shortcake dolls and then some months later we publish an article that satirizes Strawberry Shortcake and other 80s dolls.
While it's highly doubtful this site will ever publish an article that satirizes Strawberry Shortcake, Reasonable Man's example above reflects our views perfectly.

Copyright

All logos and trademarks in this site are property of their respective owners. All other content copyrighted by individual authors and used with permission, except where otherwise indicated. Everything else, including design and graphics, is Copyright (c) 2006, 2007 Joyce A. Rogers.

We may provide certain images, multimedia files, and programs on our site that unintentionally violate an original owner's copyright. We have a large library of material harvested from multiple sources, and sometimes we are not sure of the origins. At times, we will provide material under U.S. Fair Use doctrine, meaning that we will quote in a limited context from other sources. We always attempt to attribute the original source or to license the material and do not knowingly violate U.S. copyright laws. If you are a publisher or owner of original content that you believe was posted here, and you believe the posting violates your copyright laws, please contact us through the contact page and we will remove offending material upon proof that you are the original publisher.

We do not knowingly house any content that would harm anyone under the age of 18 - but this site is not intended for people under 18. When it comes to the question of whether you can, or should, access the contents of any Web site, it is up to you to know and follow the applicable laws of your country, state, province, city, village, and/or snotty co-op association. In other words, we won't be held responsible (and we really don't give a damn) if China gets pissed off because one of their oppressed citizens wanted to see a picture of the Tiananmen Square guy.

At the same time, we believe it is the responsibility of every parent to monitor and limit Internet content viewed by his or her child. We are not babysitters.

If you don't agree with all of the above, then please go somewhere else.

Thanks to Reasonable Man for allowing many Webmasters to use parts of his TOS!
